The first Marine Reserve established on the Coromandel Peninsula. Nine square kilometers. The habitats found around and between Motukorure,Motorua, Motueku and Maharangi Islands are complex, diverse and of high quality. Many plant, fish, mollusc and crustacean communities.
Snorkeling is best in shallow waters to 5m, particularly around Gemstone Bay, Stingray Bay and the western side of Mahurangi Island.
