Prolofic fish life. Lighthouse or 'Spot c' Fish Reef - boat 8km from Moeraki. Large kelp beds. 5 - 27m deep. Excellent fish life, crayfish. Visibility 5 - 15m.

Fish Reef is a popular dive site just off the coast of Moeraki, approximately 100kms north of Dunedin. The reef is named after the abundance of fish to be found amongst the macrocystis kelp. Average depth on the reef is 18-24 metres and the visibility is usually around 10-15 metres. The rocks have a maze-like quality, which makes for great exploring, especially if you are looking for crayfish. Leatherjackets are commonly seen here along with girdled wrasse, banded wrasse, scarlet wrasse, blue cod, trumpeter and blue moki.
