Forty minutes drive via State Highway 1 from Dunedin and
you will come to a lovely beach, popular for family outings
and a great spot to dive. Karitane is a spectacular
snorkeling spot and if you are up to a swim out beyond the
reef, you will be rewarded with a diverse bottom of volcanic
rock, boulders and table-tops. There is an abundance of
marine life including banded wrasse, crayfish, moki and
trevally.
