If you like big fish and lots of them, Green island is the
place for you. Situated just off the coast at Brighton beach,
17kms south of Dunedin. The island itself is a department
of conservation reserve; therefore you are not allowed to
step on to it. There is a colony of yellow-eyed penguins (hoi
hoi) living on the island and watching them from under the
water is spectacular. Schools of large moki, trumpeter and
groper swim amongst the giant bull kelp forests. The visibility is around 8-10 metres and
the depth range goes down to 18 metres on the western side and down to 3Om on the
eastern side of the island.
